Brake Controller Recommendation for 2017 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
I just bought a 15 HiLo and now see that it has trailer brakes. The previous owner didnt use them and probably didnt know about the brakes. However, I will be taking it to offload with a 2017 Tacoma off road with towing package in areas once I raise it up some with steep downhill roads so the brakes will be a big + 4 me. Can I assume that what was written for the 2018 Tacoma will apply to my rig? Also, I just ordered the security stop #3794DAT. If I purchase the 2nd option @ ~ $72.00 is there a chance of getting a brake on the shipping for the controller? Thanks

Yes, the Prodigy P3 brake controller part # 90195 is a great solution for a brake controller for your 2017 Toyota Tacoma.
This controller has a display that actually tells you in words if there is a fault of some kind. Other controllers have codes you have to look up. The P3 also allows you to set up the controller for different trailers should the need arise. Since your Tacoma has the towing package you can just plug the controller right into your truck using harness # 3031-P. The separate white ground wire will need to attach to a bare metal surface.
To install it in your 2017 Toyota Tacoma all you need is the part # 3031-P which plugs into the back of the controller and then also into the port under your dash.
