Can Trailer Wheel be Replaced with One with Larger Pilot Hole Diameter
Question:
My current ST 225 / 75D-15 tire/wheel combo has bolt holes and a 4-inch diameter hub. Does the replacement wheel have to be 4 inches or would a 4.5 inch hub also fit?

It sounds like you are referring to the pilot hole diameter on a 15 inch trailer wheel like # AM20539. The vast majority of trailer wheels are secured in place by the lugs (lug centric) so the size of the pilot hole on the wheel is not a concern (unless it's too small to fit over the hub). With this in mind you can indeed replace a 15 inch wheel that has a 4 inch pilot hole with one that features a larger 4-1/2 inch diameter pilot hole.
You will just want to make sure the new wheel features a matching bolt pattern to what you currently have. I have attached a great article on measuring your bolt pattern if you are unsure of what you have.
