Recommended 7-Way Wiring Connector for a 2016 Ford Explorer
Question:
On my 2016 ford explore under the passenger side rear wheel well their is only a female t connector that is not hooked to any other t connector is that for trailer wiring to plug in to and what part works best

It sounds like you have found the rectangular plug that is indeed used for the trailer wiring. The 7-Way that I recommend using is the Tekonsha T-One # 118272 because we have found the Tekonsha wiring products to be very reliable. You can use the mounting brackets # PK12711U and # C57202 to secure the 7-Way connector to the rear of your 2016 Ford Explorer.
I have attached a video of this connector being installed on a similar 2016 Explorer that you can reference. It also shows where we found the OEM wiring harness so you can double check to make sure what you found is correct.
