Why A Modulite Converter Box Doesn't Drain a Vehicle's Battery

just got this kit, but by installing the power wired straight to battery would that make the box in kit stay alive at all times

The Modulite box of part # 118617 only draws power from the battery if the turn, brake or tail lights are activated with a trailer connected. If you are not using one those functions the wiring harness is not getting power so it will not drain the vehicle's battery.
Basically the modulite box gets a signal from the tail light circuit when one of these functions are activated, and then draws power from the battery to power the wiring harness connected to the trailer. If the signal never happens the modulite box is not going to draw any power from the battery.
Please note this wiring harness fits a 2014-2019 Dodge Durango, please let me know if you have a different vehicle and I can recommend another wiring harness.
