Towing 5th Wheel Trailer with 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 Equipped with Factory Rail Kit

Question:

Hi there. I have a 2017 gmc 2500. I have a gooseneck quick connect that I use for horse trailers. Can I pop those out and pop a 5th wheel in for a camper? Thanks!

It sounds like you have the factory rail kit on your 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 and you are referring to popping out the covers for the 5th wheel pucks that surround the center gooseneck ball hole. If this is not correct please just let me know.

If this is the case though then you absolutely can just remove the gooseneck ball, take those covers out, and drop in a 5th wheel hitch that is designed for the rail kit on your truck to pull a 5th wheel trailer. If you have the 8 foot bed I recommend the Curt A20 5th Wheel Hitch # C16064 and if you have the 6-1/2 foot bed I recommend the slider version Curt A20 # C16669.

This is an excellent 5th wheel hitch that features an interlocking 2-jaw system to provide a secure connection with the trailer along with a smooth and quiet ride. Its fully articulating torsion head allows for easy hookup and the unique 3-point indicator system lets you easily see when the hitch is ready to uncouple, couple, or head out on your trip. Either above option will drop right into the factory pucks on your bed and can be quickly removed when you're done towing if you want a clean truck bed or need to pull your gooseneck trailer.

I have attached a couple short video demonstrations that you can check out as well.
