The biggest and best rooftop cargo box in my opinion is the Thule Motion XT Rooftop Cargo Box # TH629906. This box not only has a nice design to look nice and not completely kill your gas mileage, but it has 22 cubic feet of cargo space for the family trip. Holding up to 165 lbs of luggage on your roof frees up important space inside your van to assist on a long trip. The box weighs 55 lbs and most roof racks are rated for 165 lbs total (check your owners manual), so even getting 110 lbs from the cargo area or near people's feet out of the way makes the trip a lot more fun with a little more room to move.

Whether taking skis up to 215 cm long or carrying luggage, it is a great asset for a family to have. It comes with a limited lifetime warranty as well.
