Are Custom Brackets Needed for Fifth Wheel Rail Install in 2018 Chevrolet 1500 6 1/2 Bed

I was wonder if there are any special brackets for the installation of rails on a 2018 Chevrolet 1500 with a 6 1/2 bed.

Yes, the custom brackets needed to install fifth wheel rails on a 2018 Chevrolet 1500 with a 6 1/2 foot bed is included with the installation kit part # RP50064-58. If you already have Reese rails, just the custom install brackets are part # 50064. If you are putting the Reese rails in another vehicle you need to replace the hardware as well part # RP58504. If you have another brand of rails, let me know what you have and I can help you find the brackets. I have attached an installation video on a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
If you already have a fifth wheel hitch, as long as the hitch fits industry standard rails, the Reese installation kit with the rails works with the hitch you have. With a short bed truck, a slider hitch is recommended for clearance between the truck cab and the fifth wheel during sharp turns.
If you do not have fifth wheel wiring, use the Curt # C56070.
