The towing capacity of a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 will vary based on tire size, bed length, transmission type, axle ratio, and drive style. If you can provide me with all of these metrics then I would be happy to provide you with an exact towing capacity for your Ram 1500. However, it looks like the most well equipped model only has a maximum towing capacity of 7,300 lbs. Therefore, the weight of your 5th wheel trailer cannot exceed 7,300 lbs. The length of the trailer is more or less irreverent when it comes to vehicle limitations.
Assuming your truck is capable to handle a 5th wheel trailer you will need a 5th wheel hitch and base rail kit in order to tow it. For this, I recommend you take a look at the Reese 16K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30051 for short bed trucks or part # RP30047 for long bed trucks along with the Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # RP30035-023. I also recommend using the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness part # HM42137.These are all great options for a first time, cost effective 5th wheel setup.
I have attached review videos on the above products for you as well.
