Adding ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Pad to DC Fuse Panel
Question:
How would I wire the Therma Heat pad to the fuse panel in my RV? I have 2 of the pads and 2 light up switches I would like to use for them as well. The fuse panel is the DC panel connected to the batteries on the RV. Is this not the same idea as needing an inline fuse when connecting directly to the battery? Instead the battery would run through a switch and a 15amp fuse then to the pads?

Expert Reply:
Yes, you can use two of the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank or Step Heater Pad # 277-000163 connected to your DC fuse panel. You could do this with both pads running to individual switches, or if you wired them in parallel you would only need to use one switch, such as the Universal-Design Rocker Switch # PK34360, because the pads draw 4.8 amps and this switch is rated for 20 amps. Essentially, so long as your switch is rated for the appropriate amperage you would run the wire from the fuse panel to the switch which would be connected to the pads.
