Recommended Ladder Rack to Carry 169 Canoe with 2018 Nissan Frontier 5 Bed and Utili-Track System

Question:

I have a 2018 Nissan Frontier 5 bed crew cab w utili track system. I want a Erikson rack that can handle my 169 inch canoe keeping the canoe off of the truck cab but also not hanging over the back so far that I cant clear my travel trailer hitched to the back. Am I defying the laws of physics in this scenario?

Since you have a 169" canoe I recommend using the Erickson Over-The-Cab Truck Bed Ladder Rack # EM07707 on your 2018 Nissan Frontier because it will support up to about 130" of the length of your canoe. This leaves you with about 20" of canoe at the front and rear of this ladder rack.

I would imagine that 20" of space at the back of your Frontier would leave you with enough turning room for a travel trailer but if you would rather not have the canoe sticking out at all at the rear you can install the front mount hitch # 65075 and utilize the Yakima LongArm Extender # Y01149-1150 in the front receiver. This means that you will have the post in your field of view (which is normal) and you won't have to worry about that rear clearance.

To help protect the finish on your canoe you can also use the Rhino-Rack SUP and Surfboard Pads w/ Tie-Downs # RRRWP05 on the ladder rack since the Extend-A-Truck comes with a foam block.
