Best Easy To Use 5th Wheel Hitch with the Lippert Tuning Point on a 2019 Ford F-150 Short Bed
Question:
I will soon be taking delivery of my 2019 F-150 with max payload, max tow, fx4, 6 1/2’ bed. I’m looking at a Rockwood Ultra Lite 2441WS, which has the Turning Point pin box. I want a hitch that is light, easy to install and remove, easy to back into, and leaves a clean truck bed when removed, while still achieving that 90 degree capability gold standard. Enter the Andersen Ultimate over a BandW Turnover Ball Mount. I’ve seen discussions that the Turning Point is not compatible, as that would create two pivot points. Of course, unless you lock out the turret of the pin box. So if you lock out the pin box, are these compatible?

For starters, we do not carry the Lippert Tuning Point Pin Box or the Anderson Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection 2 Gooseneck Mount so if you need exact advice on their compatibility it would be best if you reach out to each manufacturer directly. However, generally speaking a rotating pin box like the Lippert Tuning Point cannot be used with any sort of gooseneck to 5th wheel adapter like the Anderson Ultimate. The reason for this has to do with the added stress on the single connection point and its inability to withstand this added stress through extended use. If you were to lock out the turret which I am not even sure is an option on the Lippert Tuning Point that would more or less defeat its purpose so is not what I recommend.
Instead, I recommend using the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Slide Bar Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16115 with installation kit # C93WR.
Please note that when using the Curt E16 with the Lippert Tuning Point Pin Box you will also need the Wedge for Curt E Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # C16991.
