Best Roof Rack for a 2019 Subaru Forester With Raised Side Rails

Hi, For the 2019 Forester Subaru I believe the recommended Wingbar Evo cross bar is the TH711220 47 in long. I assume that using the TH711420 53 in Long for a extended bar would not be a problem. Thanks,

Correct, the recommended Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars for your 2019 Subaru Forester are part # TH711220 which measure 47" long. If you wanted to go up to the next size then you could do so and for that you would need the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars part # TH711420 which are 53" long. It is almost always permissible to go up one size but if you were to jump two sizes then that could create issues due to the channel on the crossbar that the mounting feet attach to. The crossbars also cannot extend out past the side mirrors by law. If you have raised side rails on your Forester then you will also need the Evo Raised Rail Feet for Thule Crossbars part # TH710401 to use the above crossbars.

If you have a bare roof with fixed mounting points then Thule does not yet offer a fit for your vehicle so you will need to use a similar Yakima system. For that, I recommend the Yakima JetStream Crossbars System which is composed of part # Y00425, part # Y53TR, and part # Y00248. This system uses 50" long crossbars and is very similar to the Thule system in regards to overall design and features.

In order to add locks to the Thule system you will need part # TH450400 but in order to add locks to the Yakima system you will need part # Y07204.
