If you don't already have a roof rack on your 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee then that is what you would need to start off with. For this I recommend the Inno square bar roof rack, parts # INB117 and # INFR, because it gives you a good quality roof rack that is still cost-effective and looks great.

Then you need the kayak carrier itself. The best solution that fits on the square bar roof rack but while still offering a load assist (to easily load/unload the kayaks) is the Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier and TelosXL Load Assist Module # MPG114MD-351XL. Simply install the J-Style cradles on one side and then another pair with part # MPG114MD on the other side and use the load assist for loading each kayak. This takes a lot of the grunt work out of moving your kayaks without costing an arm and a leg to do so (like other load assist options).

If you would rather do without the load assist you can either use one set of the J-Style carriers in the upright position for hauling 2 kayaks or you can still use two sets of the carriers; one for each kayak.
