Solution for Needing Wanting to Add Brakes to Mobile Home Trailer Axle Without Them

Question:

I have a heavy duty tandem built on two mobile home axles. The issue is that the axles don’t have fixed plates behind the spindles. Are there any conversion kits to add a plate so that brakes can be installed Thanks

There are brake mounting flanges that can be welded to axles like the # 4-35, but the issue you are going to have will be fitting hub/drums to the axle that you have. Mobile home axles are basically designed for one-time use and don't have standard axle replacement parts available. Also the wheel bolt pattern you have isn't compatible with hub/drums. So long story short...your best solution will be to replace the axle with one that has hubs/brake assemblies and also uses a standard wheel bolt pattern.

You will need to measure from hub face to hub face and then from the spring seat centers. You will also need to know what bolt pattern you have on your current hubs. I also attached a link to a page with all of the axles we carry. If you don't see your size you'll need to find a local trailer shop who can order you in axles based on the dimensions that you do need.
