Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect is Disconnecting Battery when Vehicle Turning Off Ignition

Question:

I installed the RM-766 on my 2018 ford focus. Everything worked great for a couple of days and then it got to where it would disconnect the battery almost every time I would turn the car off. Im thinking about finding another kind of switch for the shut off in place of the button that came with it. Dont know if that would help. I would be thankful for any help you can give me.

I reached out to my contact at Roadmaster because I have not heard of this particular issue happening before with the Automatic Battery Disconnect # RM-766. He said it's possible that something is going on with the switch itself and there is an easy way to find this out for sure.

There is a small 7.5 amp fuse at the end of the "Battery Post" cable, which is for the switch. With the unit running and on, remove this fuse to cut off power to the switch. Then start your vehicle and turn it off and see if the battery still gets disconnected.

If the battery was still disconnected them something else is going on, most likely with the solenoid and it would need to be replaced. This would be covered under warranty.

If the battery didn't get disconnected with the fuse removed then you know the switch is the problem. I don't think going with a different type of switch will help but the switch can certainly be replaced if it is damaged under warranty.

Please let me know what you find out and we can go from there!
