Charger Recommendation for Charging Battery of Dump Trailer
Question:
I have a 10foot Texas Bragg® dump trailer that needs a whole new harness as a design fix the stock harness has no way to recharge the onboard battery for the hydraulics and emergency brake. But time and money constraints contraindicate the Pollak® PK 12-906 and 9-conductor harness I originally intended to use. The Hopkins® HM20087 I have determined to be a satisfactory lead-in under the circumstances, as it provides needed functionality, excepting the center stop lamps I originally intended. What junction box would suit the task of distributing lights and service-brake power down the frame rails? And what recharge provisions will be needed for the stock 6-cell lead-acid for the aforementioned hydraulics and emergency brake?

For a charger for your trailer's battery the best option we have is the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1240D which is designed for putting up to a 40 amp charge on a battery that is rated higher than 200 amp-hours. The fuse kit you'll need then is the # 331-FK60. I know it's not exactly inexpensive but charging a larger battery while towing requires a special charger setup.
For a 7-way with junction box to make wiring up the lighting and braking of your trailer the # HS381-9000 would work great.
