Can Tow Ready 4-Way to 5-Way Adapter #20036 be Used for Dedicated Brake Light Circuit
Question:
I have a 2015 Kia Soul with a 4 pole flat connector. I have purchashed a Lees-Ure Lite lightweight motorcycle tent camper trailer that has a 5 pole connector. The 5th wire on this trailer is not for brakes but for turn signal lights. Can this adapter be used? Would I just splice the blue wire into the turn signal wire on my vehicle?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The fifth circuit is possibly a dedicated brake light circuit since it wouldn't be possible for one wire to be able to activate two different turn signals. If this is the case you could use the # 20036 but you'd have to wire the extra blue wire to a dedicated brake light circuit like the third brake light.
