Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring That Doesnt Work Where Running Light Circuit is Ran to Ground
Question:
Aluminum boat trailer.. it has what I believe the wishbone 4way harness.. yellow and brown on one run, green and brown on another run.. The brown wire that is associated with the yellow was hooked up to the ground white on the plug.. My issue is the right green turn signal only shows BRIGHT red.. no brake or turn signal.. The left signal works perfect. I have about 4 markers on each side that work perfect.. I am not sure how this is grounded.. no where do I see it grounded on the trailer.. Other than the brown wire being used as a ground back to the plug.. I cannot figure out the the green/right tail light is just stuck on BrIght.. Ive checked my connections.. I am using a 7pin socket, just placing wires in the right spot.. I have no issues with my other trailers to same truck 2017 GMC Sierra

Most likely the lights ground through the mounting hardware of the light assemblies as that's a pretty standard way for them to ground. It's very odd that the running light circuit is attached to the ground wire on the connector so I would move fix that as soon as you can. From there basically you'll want to start over running the wires to the correct assemblies and you should see it all work like it should. It's hard to say how it all worked with the ground situation all jacked up but starting over will be best option.
