Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch Installation Kit for a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 HD
Question:
What rail kit do I need for this Q20 hitch? I have a 2205 Dodge Ram 2500 HD Diesel Laramie PKG, it has had a 5th wheel hitch i it before. So i hope I do not need to drill any others holes than the ones that are already in bed from previous owners hitch. The 2 rear holes in bed I noticed underneath have bracket assy weleded to frame, so I assume it has what i need the brackets I beleive are of another kit i saw you have online so think I am good! yes or no? Also are all holediameter and spacings drilled for rails pretty much the same for any set of rails? thanks,

First, I would recommend that any remaining parts from the old kit be removed by a qualified professional. The reason is that we do not know their condition or capacity and it may not be compatible or safe to use them.
For the absolute minimal drilling I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit, # RP50140-58. The brackets are designed to match factory holes in the truck to minimize installation time. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
Reese, CURT, and Valley rails all have the the same basic dimensions but I cannot confirm other brands like RBW and B and W.
The Curt Q20 Wheel Trailer Hitch, # C16541, has a pin weight capacity of 5,000 pounds. Be sure to consult the truck owners manual for the towing capacity. You should choose a trailer hitch based on the gross trailer weight when loaded and ready to tow.
