Do Trailer Hitches or Bike Racks have Threaded Shanks For Removing Movement

Question:

I was recently in a wreck o where I was rear ended. I had a Thule bike rack on the back with saved my car from major damage. The receiver hitch they replaced my old one with doesn’t have the threads for me to screw in my pin to keep the rack from shaking. They tell me it’s an OEM receiver hitch and I am telling them it’s the wrong one. It was purchased with the vehicle in 2007. What part number do I need to tell them to order so that I have the threads in the receiver? Thanks

Trailer hitches do not have threads in them. What did have threads was your Thule bike rack as that's been their standard anti-rattle device for their bike racks for several years. When you replace the bike rack that was damaged it's shank will have threads.

The Thule T2 part # TH69TX is a great example of a bike rack that has a threaded shank. If you check out the review video for the rack that I attached you'll see how that device is used and demonstrated.
