Availability of One Bike Rack to Fit 2008 Honda Civic EXL, 2011 Acura TSX, and 2012 Honda CR-V

Question:

hi. i have 2008 honda civic EXL, 2011 acura tsx both sedan. and planning to get the new 2012 honda crv which will be out in the market probably this month. im wondering if i there is a rack that will fit all these vehicles? thank you.

A hitch bike rack or a trunk mount style bike rack would be the only way to be able to use the same bike rack on two of the three vehicles (2008 Honda Civic, 2011 Acura TSX). The 2012 Honda CR-V does not have a hitch available for a hitch bike rack at this time and the trunk mount style bike rack will not fit the 2012 Honda CR-V.

To use a hitch bike rack that slips into a trailer hitch on your vehicles you will need to choose a Class I rated hitch bike rack that will install into a 1-1/4 size hitch receiver on the vehicle. I am including links to the Class I hitches and the Class I 1-1/4 inch hitch bike racks that are available for the Honda Civic and the Acura TSX.

After the Class I 1-1/4 inch hitch is installed on each of the vehicles, then the same bike rack can be used to slide into the hitch on each different vehicle. On a Class I rated hitch bike rack you will be limited to only transporting 2 bikes.

For a trunk bike rack I would recommend the Thule OutWay 2 Bike Carrier, part # TH45JV. This is the easiest to install and remove trunk mounted carrier, especially after the initial setup, that I have ever installed and it comes with locks for both the rack and the bikes.
