How to Attach an Erickson Vehicle Recovery Strap to Vehicles without Trailer Hitches or Tow Hooks

Question:

I hope this isnt a dumb question. How do you hook this up if both vehicles dont have a tow hook? Any tips would be helpful...never used one of these.

On the one vehicle you will need to find a solid connection point like a tow hook or the vehicle frame. The more centered this connection point, the better for the vehicle. You will pass one end of the Erickson Vehicle Recovery Strap, # EM59802, around the frame and use a Tow Strap Cinch Bone, like # BC-902, to hold it in place.

You could also loop the strap through itself by pulling the other end all the way through the loop. Make a similar connection on the other vehicle. Make sure that people are clear from both vehicles and clear from the space between them.

If the vehicle doing the pulling has a 4 wheel drive low setting, use it. Otherwise the lowest gear would be best. Take it slow and if anything does not seem right or you are not making progress, stop and reassess the situation.

I have included a link to a previous question I answered that has a video showing the use of the bone # BC-902.
