How to Pick Out Correct Ball Mount Rise/Drop for 2017 GMC Canyon Duramax ATX
Question:
I have a 2017 GMC Canyon Duramax with the All Terrain X package. This truck comes with the factory tow package, Z71 suspension and taller tires than the other Colorado/Canyons within this model year. Can you tell me which hitch BWTS10048B or BWTS10049B would work best with this truck in its stock setup? Can you also tell me which hitch lock I need and tow chains to complete this package? Ive never towed anything before or set up a truck for towing a trailer so please inform me of any other items I havent considered.

I attached an FAQ that details how to pick out the correct ball mount rise/drop. Picking out the correct ball mount will allow your trailer to sit as level as possible. Basically you will first measure the height from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the hitch while on level ground. Next, you will measure the coupler height from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when the trailer is on level ground. Since I do not know what either of those dimensions are on your setup it's hard to say which would be better the part # BWTS10048B or # BWTS10049B.
Next, you will need to compute the difference. If the hitch height is greater than the coupler height the difference is the drop required. If the coupler height is greater the difference is the rise required. You will want to pick the ball mount with the rise/drop closest to the difference.
