Rear Running Lights on Trailer and 2000 Dodge Caravan Malfunctioning
Question:
After one year of use, the drivers rear tail light does not work correctly. Out of three lamps, the lower onebrake and back-up lamp only work. Also noticed the trailer running lamps do not work. Turn signal and brake lamps work on both trailer and vehicle. Could this be a defective unit? Pleas Help.

You will want to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the wires going into the converter box for signal. You will then want to make sure the wires leaving the converter box have signal as well when the proper functions are being used. If there is not signal from the wires leaving the converter box, the unit may be bad and will need to be replaced.
If the running light bulb on your 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan is not illuminating at all, I would recommend checking the bulb to make sure it is not burned.
Next, check the 4-way connector to make sure there is not corrosion in the connector. You will also want to make sure each taillight assembly on the trailer has a good clean ground connection. There is a chance that corrosion has built-up over time and is causing the problems you are experiencing.
