Finding The Correct Wires To Install CURT Custom Fit Wiring Harness on 2009 Jetta Sportwagen

Question:

I have the Curt powered wire harness, but cannot find anywhere that has the diagram to know which wires to connect to at the taillights. Do you have a color code diagram for the rear taillights of the sportwagen?

To determine which wire to connect the wires of the CURT Custom Fit Wiring # C59236, you will need to use a circuit tester, like part # PTW2993, to test each wire for signal. The White wire of the CURT wiring kit is ground and should be connected to a clean metal surface. The remaining wires coming out of the converter box will need to be connected to the wire that carries the corresponding function.

In addition to connecting the correct wires, you will then need to run the power wire to the front of the vehicle and connect to the positive battery terminal via the included fuse.

We do not keep track of the vehicle manufacturer wiring colors as they can change every so often and vary from each manufacturer.

However, we have installed wiring on a Sportwagen. I have linked a picture showing the wiring connections and the wire functions below. However, you will still want to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to verify the wire functions.

Drivers Side:
Gray/Black Stripe = Taillights
Black/Red Stripe = Brake Lights
Black/Gray Stripe = Left Turn Signal

Passengers Side – The same Except

Black/Gray Stripe = Right Turn Signal

I have linked a video review on circuit testing that you may find as a good reference. Also linked are instructions for the CURT Custom Fit Wiring # C59236.
