Trailer Lights Do Not Work After Installing Trailer Wiring on a 2010 Chevy Express 3500 Van
Question:
I followed the video and connected the wiring harness. I also installed a new light kit on my trailer, but when I hooked the trailer to the wiring harness from the van, none of the lights worked. My vehicle is a 2010 Chevrolet Express 3500 passenger van. I checked the fuse at the battery terminal and it looks fine. I also disconnected the wiring harness on the driver side and reconnected it. I have not attached the ground on the trailer wire to the trailer frame. Does this really make a difference? Thanks for your help.

I an 99 percent certain that it is a ground problem. The circuit cannot be completed unless everything is properly grounded including the trailer connectors, the converter box, and all of the lights. Grounds should be attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. I have included a link to our wiring FAQ for reference.
