Do I Need to Install Fuses and Relays on a 2000 Ford F-250 for Towing
Question:
I watched the video, which was helpful in confirming the behind dash connector. Are there relays or anything that need to be plugged in? I bought my truck well almost 19 years ago, and recently started hauling large trailers. There were a couple relays in the now lost bag that came with the factory harness and pigtail. Do these need to be installed somewhere? if yes might be a good idea to add to videos, I could see someone installing the controller but still not getting power to the brakes?

Yes, there are relays and fuses that will need to be installed on a 2000 Ford F-250 if not already present in order to activate the circuits for the brake controller and 7-way trailer connector. In order to check this you simply need take a look at the power distribution center. If there are fuses in both the Trailer Tow Electric Brake and Trailer Tow Battery slots as well as relays in both the Trailer Tow Backup Lamp Relay and the Trailer Tow Battery Charge Relay slots then you are good to go. If there are not relays and fuses in the above locations then you can obtain them with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C55243 but we don't offer just the fuses and relays separately.
