Question:
Is the lower transmission line coming out of the radiator my return to tranny line??

I really wish I knew exactly which transmission line on your GMC Sonoma was the return line but unfortunately, I do not have this information. However, if you drive the vehicle around the block and then grab each of the two transmission lines that lead in and out of the radiator that should give you a very good idea of which is which. The return line should be considerably cooler.
Please note that in order to install a transmission cooler on a GMC Sonoma you may also need to use the Derale Radiator Adapter Fitting part # D13018.
