How Does Global Link RV Entry Door Locking Latch Kit Normally Install on Door without Latch

Question:

Hello, Im thinking of purchasing this to add to my enclosed cargo trailer, which currently only has a barlock on the outside. It seems relatively straight forward install to use a Dremel metal cutter and cutout the latch opening through the door, door interior, and trailer door frame. the only part that Im somewhat hesitant about is the size and alignment of the cutouts. Does the product come with dimension instructions for such cutouts? Thanks for the advice! Sincerely,

The Global Link RV Entry Door Locking Latch Kit with Keyed Alike Option # 295-000021 that you referenced is designed to fit door thicknesses that are between 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" thick and have cutouts that are 2-1/2" wide x 3-1/2" tall to 3" wide x 4" tall. If your door does not have a cutout you'd pretty easily be able to line up where you want to install this and then cut out the size needed. Basically the square block that sticks out and has the latch mechanism gets mounted flush with the door and then the cut out gets placed based on that.
