Which is Better Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter B&W Companion or Convert a Ball

Question:

I have the BandW base already installed in my 2015 Silverado HC 3500 DRW. The rig I am planning to purchase is a 2019 North Point fifth wheel that is GVWR at 16500# and has a Moryde King pin installed. The simple thing to do is purchase a BandW Companion and install it. I am considering options for 2 reasons. 1 the BandW is heavy 2 The BandW takes up alot of bed in my truck. I am considering an Andersen hitch which is essentially a Fifth Wheel to gooseneck adapter. I have looked at other king pin to goosneck adapters they are about 18 inches tall and are 90 degrees off of the king pin and have read that they put extra strain and stress on the fifth wheel frame / because they are built to use a king ping... what is your opinion? is there less chucking with the gooseneck? What about this option? Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter w/ Offset - 12inch to 16inch Tall Item # CAB-C5GX1216

The Companion hitch part # BWRVK3500 that fits your B and W Gooseneck Hitch directly would be the best solution for your 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500HD with a B and W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch installed # BWGNRK1012. This will essentially give you the best fifth wheel towing hitch/setup you can get and while it's a bit heavier for removal will be much better than the Convert a Ball # CAB-C5GX1216 that you also mentioned.

The # CAB-C5GX1216 is a style of adapter that will put more strain/leverage on the pin box of the trailer and in most cases voids the warranty of the frame on the trailer. Many refer to the Companion hitches as the best hitches you can get so I know you'll be happier with this setup. Also the hitch can come apart in pieces making the install/removal a bit less difficult.
