How Do the Yakima FatCat and FatCat EVO Ski and Snowboard Carriers Lock
Question:
How does this foot lock to the crossbar? I am interested in the Fatcat but cannot find an answer regarding if you can lock the rack to the crossbar. I wouldnt want someone to be able to steal the rack just by just undoing the straps.

The Replacement Mounting Hardware # Y8860078 does, in a roundabout way, lock to the roof rack on your vehicle. Both the discontinued Yakima FatCat ski and snowboards carriers, as well as the Yakima FatCat EVO 6 Ski and Snowboard Carrier # Y03096, utilize the locks on the outside push-buttons to lock the whole system.
The mounting hardware can only be removed from the inside of the carrier itself so as long as you lock the cores on the push-button the carrier will be locked to the crossbar. The only way someone would be able to steal the carrier is if they either beat the lock, damaged the carrier, or were able to remove your roof rack. Other than that the carrier and your gear would be secure!
Attached is a review video and a picture of the FatCat EVO where we demonstrate how the mounting hardware sits inside the carrier itself.
