How Easy is Installing Tekonsha Prodigy Brake Controller in 2018 GMC Sierra 1500
Question:
I read your advice and looked at the video for the Chevy Silverado. This seems too easy!! I just bought a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE. It has the trailer package, which includes the 7-pin and 4-pin outlets, a draw-bar hitch receiver, and a pig tail with one connector to the panel under the dash the other end is bare wires. What I am getting from the Chevy video is that I can purchase the connector and the controller, plug it in, mount it, and Im good to go. The truck already has all the wiring to that panel from the brake system. Is it really that easy? Im totally capable of doing this, just have trouble thinking it is so easy! Thanks!

Installing a brake controller in your 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 with the towing package really is as easy as what you described. Basically you just plug in the # 3016 to the back of the controller and then to the port under your dash and it's wired up and ready. You'd only need to mount the controller and you'd be all set. I attached an install video that will walk you through the entire process using this harness on a similar 2017 Silverado 1500.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.

2018 GMC Sierra came with all the towing stuff EXCEPT the brake controller itself! Isn't there a unit that can mount on the dash where the factory controller is mounted (change tray) so it would look original, then plug it up with the 3016 plug-in wiring adapter?
