Recommended Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack for a 2017 Toyota Prius v
Question:
Needing to carry my bikes with my 2017 Toyota Prius v. I don't want to use a roof rack or trunk mount so what trailer hitch and bike rack do you recommend using?

The trailer hitch I recommend using for carrying a bike rack and bikes with your 2017 Toyota Prius v is the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7192. This is the only Class III trailer hitch available so it will be stronger than the other options.
The EcoHitch has a 2" receiver as well which gives you many more options when it comes to other accessories. Another great thing about this trailer hitch is that the only visible part is the receiver so it has a clean look (see attached picture).
Then for a bike rack I recommend the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 # SH22G. The Sherpa 2.0 is made of a lightweight aluminum (only weighs 32 lbs!) which is also rustproof, includes locks for both the bike and rack, and can accommodate 2 bikes weighing in at 40 lbs each. It also has the standard tilt and fold features that are commonly found on bike racks so you won't be sacrificing any features going with this option. It also secures bikes by wheels so it is compatible with any bike style that doesn't have a front fender.
The part mentioned above comes in a metallic gray and orange finish but it is also available in Black # SH22B and Pearl # SH22P.
A review video of the bike rack has been linked as well as an installation video of the EcoHitch on a 2016 Prius v for you to check out. Please be sure to reference the owner's manual for your Prius v when it comes to weight ratings and restrictions.
