Best Trailer Hitch and Wiring Harness for 2018 Ford Edge With Hands Free Liftgate
Question:
I am looking for the best trailer hitch for my 2018 ford edge SE. I want something you can't really see and also want to still be able to use the hands free that lets me open the hatch by kicking my feet. What is the best one? I also need a wiring harness with the 4 pins on it.

The trailer hitch I highly recommend for your 2018 Ford Edge SE is the Draw-Tite # 75234 because it has a concealed crosstube which hides everything but the receiver, and it will still allow you to use the hands-free liftgate feature on your Edge. You will only need to kick to the sides of the hitch receiver as opposed to the middle.
If you take a look at the accompanying photo of the Draw-Tite hitch installed on a 2018 Ford Edge you can see that it is almost entirely hidden behind your bumper. This is a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver with a black powder coat finish which helps protect it from corrosion; it also has a 4,500 lb towing capacity and a 675 lb tongue weight capacity, though be sure not to exceed the towing capacity of your Edge, which you can find in the owner's manual.
For wiring which will give your 2018 Ford Edge SE a 4-way connector and allow you to power your trailer's lights you need Wiring Harness # 118669. It is also recommended you use Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors # 11755 to help prevent any type of corrosion in your connector, which will increase its durability and extend its lifespan.
I also recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which is for 2” hitches and may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop - a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip.
You can use the link to the help article on ball mounts I've added to determine if this kit will give you the correct amount of drop or rise. I've also attached links to install videos of the hitch and wiring harness, along with a link to our page with each of our ball mounts for you to check out.
