Question:
This was the great response that I received a few weeks ago. I panning on getting the Draw-Tite hitch and other recommended items. Which electronic break control to you recommend? Thank You.

For a brake controller I recommend taking a look at the Curt Echo # C51180. This is a really unique controller that will simply plug into the 7-Way connector on your Outback and pair with your smartphone via Bluetooth after downloading the free app. This allows for a really simple installation and setup and eliminates the need for a separate unit to be permanently mounted inside your vehicle like other controllers. Its built-in accelerometer will activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in the Outback.
Adjusting the brake controller settings or activating the manual override is as easy as touching a button on your phone. Adding a dash mount bracket like part # RVS-CEL-M1 is a good idea to keep your phone in place and in view during travel.
I have attached a short video demonstration so you can get a better idea as to how this installs and operates.
Now in order to use this or any other brake controller you will need to convert the Tekonsha 4-Way Harness # 118467 to a 7-Way. To do this for the Curt Echo you just need the Wiring Kit # ETBC7L. This includes the extra wiring needed along with the 7-Way connector that the Echo will plug into.
These parts along with the Draw-Tite # 75673 Class III Hitch will give you a great and complete towing setup for your 2018 Subaru Outback.
