Does Breaker Need to be Turned off Before Replacing Lippert Stabilizing Jack

Question:

Do I need to turn the 50 amp breaker off to unhook the wiring and hook up the new wiring, or can I just unhook the battery terminals

I took a look at the owner's manual of the Lippert Components High-Speed Power Stabilizer Jack # LC298707 and it states before manually operating it to disconnect the battery. The same would hold true if you are replacing it; no power will be able to get to it if the battery is disconnected.
