Atwood Electric Tongue Jack Only Rotates 1/4 Turn
Question:
I have an Atwood electric heavy duty tongue jack. The jack is stuck in the up position. The jack rotates about 1/4 inch either direction. This happened about a month ago and playing with it, it started to work. No luck now. Any suggestions.

The first thing I would check is that there is sufficient power to the jack. Use a multimeter and probe the power wire just before it enters the motor. If you get 12 volts then this is not the issue but if you don't then you need to trace the power wire back to its source to see where the break occurs. It could also just be that your battery needs charged or the fuse is blown and needs replaced.
The next thing I would check is your ground. If there is a ground wire then remove it, sand down the surface and reattach with new hardware. If the jack grounds using its mounting hardware then do the same but with the mounting plate on the jack.
If you are receiving power to the motor and you have checked the ground then you will want to try and operate the jack manually, if it has a manual override which most do. If there is any resistance then the threaded rod is most likely damaged and the jack will need to be replaced. Atwood is no longer in business so replacement parts will be very hard to come by.
For a replacement, I recommend using the Electric Jack w/ Footplate part # EJ-3520-BBX which is an excellent cost effective option for you. It has a light for use at night, a manual override in the event of power loss, and a 3,500 lb lift capacity.
I have attached a review video for you as well.
