The best gooseneck trailer hitch for your 2018 Ford F-150 is the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BW77FR because the hitch ball has a square shank that fits directly in the base and is secured with a steel locking pin, which gives it superior strength and durability. This, along with the powder-coated steel construction of the hitch, is why it is considered by many to be the best gooseneck hitch available. The Turnoverball has been widely praised by our customers who have used it, with around 650 reviews at the time of this writing giving it a nearly unanimous 5-star rating.
The Turnoverball gooseneck # BW77FR is also relatively simple to install, as you can see by the linked instructions and does not require any drilling into your F-150's frame to install. This hitch even comes safety chains built in which are spring-loaded. Additionally, it has a lifetime warranty and is made in the USA.
For your 2018 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 foot bed the best option to add clearance is the B&W Extend-A-Goose Gooseneck Coupler # BWTEXA4200 because it will give you an extra 10 inches of offset. This will fit in place of a standard 4 inch outer tube on a gooseneck coupler.
Another option is the 4" Offset Ball for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitches # BWGNXA4085 which will give you 4 inches of added clearance from the cab of your F-150 to your gooseneck trailer (see accompanying photo); the offset ball and extended coupler can also be used together. Like the B&W Turnoverball hitch, both the Extend-A-Goose Coupler and 4" Offset Ball are made in the USA.
I have added links to video reviews of each of these parts for you to check out as well.
