Workaround For Turning On Remote Generator with Trailer Connected Using Remote Control
Question:
We are going to do some dry camping and need a generator to run the travel trailer. Wanted to get one with remote start for the convenience. I have always been told that you shouldnt have your trailer connected to a generator while starting/stopping the generator in order to avoid a low voltage situation. Is this correct, and if so then remote start would not help as you would still have to be at the generator to connect/disconnect. Would tuning off the breakers in the trailer suffice for remote start? Thanks.

An engine warmup delay is programmed into the remote start cycle. After the generator is running, there will be a delay of electrical output for 15 seconds. A delay also occurs after pushing STOP on the remote, so the electric load is automatically disconnected when using the remote.
This prevents the low voltage situation you mentioned.
