Can Curt Echo be Permanently Mounted on Trailer Tongue
Question:
I currently do not have a permanent 7 pin plug mounted to the back of my Subaru outback I store it with the spare tire. Can I permanently mount the Curt Echo to the trailer Tongue, level and oriented in the correct direction, and the the two 7 pin plugs from the car and from the trailer to the unit. I already have 12V power added to my 7 pin plug from the car.

I spoke with my contact at Curt and he said that the Echo # C51180 should not be permanently installed on the trailer frame. Even though it can withstand the elements it isn't meant to be left out when not in use.
To mount the 7-Way on your Subaru Outback Wagon so that the Echo can be used I recommend using the 7-Way Mounting Bracket # HM48625 and then a No-Drill bracket like part # 18136 or # 18140 to keep from drilling into your fascia or trailer hitch.
