According to page 89 of the online version of the owner's manual for a 2016 Jeep Patriot it can be flat towed if it has a manual transmission with the transfer case placed in neutral and the key is left in the ACC position. I recommend checking out your copy of the owner's manual to verify this. If you have an automatic then you need to transport your Jeep with a trailer so all 4 wheels are off of the ground.

The equipment needed to flat tow your Patriot includes a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter.

For a base plate kit I recommend the Blue Ox # BX1130 which pairs nicely with the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar/Safety Cables # BX7380. This gives you a clean looking installation that can quickly be connected/disconnected.

In keeping with the easy-to-use theme I also recommend the Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. After the initial installation it quickly connects to the 7-Way on your motorhome. Since you have to leave your key in the ACC position you will want to install the Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to keep your battery from draining.

Then for a braking system I recommend the Air Force One # SM99243 if your motorhome has air brakes or the Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 if your motorhome has hydraulic brakes. Both systems give you proportional braking for a smooth stop and install in such a way that you won't notice the equipment when you aren't flat towing. To keep your brake lights working properly you will also need the Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400.

Most flat towing setups require a high-low adapter for the tow bar to remain level while towing. I have linked our selection of adapters for you to check out as well as an article that will help you determine which is the best one for your application.
