Is the Stop Light Switch Kit Needed With the Stay-IN-Play DUO to Flat Tow a 2017 Chevy Equinox

Is the stop light switch kit # RM-751439 needed when you are using the SMI DUO braking system # SM99251 since it has LED coach notification that connects to towed cars brake light switch?

It is recommended to install the Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751439 on your 2017 Chevrolet Equinox to ensure that the LED notification works properly for the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251. If you can find a wire that is solely dedicated to the brake light then you can use the method that comes in the instructions for the DUO but we have found that it is difficult to locate this wire.
You will need to remove some fuses to flat tow your Equinox as well. I recommend installing a Roadmaster fuse bypass kit for this as it makes the process much quicker. If you have a 4-cylinder use part # RM-76517 but if you have a 6-cylinder you need part # RM76511 instead. You can also install the Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 with the Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 to prevent your battery from draining.
If you don't already have a base plate kit, tow bar, and safety cables then I recommend the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1689 along with the Alpha Tow Bar # BX7380 which comes with safety cables.
Most flat towing setups require a high-low adapter for the tow bar to remain level while towing. I have linked our selection of adapters for you to check out as well as an article that will help you determine which is the best one for your application.
