Is Demco 21K Recon Compatible with Lippert Turning Point for a 2015 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2' Bed

Question:

I have a 2015 Ford F150 Short Bed 5.5 and want to remove the auto slider and replace it with the Recon. I tow a Grand Design 295RL and want to use the Lippert Turning Point pin box. I don’t like all the sliding noise with the auto slider. It looks like the recon should fit on the rails that are installed on my F150, is that correct? Will I still have capability to make 90 degree turns? From my research stabilty and tracking should remain about the same and backing up may be slightly better. Are there any issues I should be aware of before attempting this change?

If you have the 13K Demco Autoslider # DM8550040 that installs on industry standard base rails, like part # RP50087-58, then yes, the Demco Recon # DM8550043 will fit in the 5-1/2' bed of your 2015 Ford F-150.

As far as compatibility with the Lippert Turning Point pin box goes, since the opening for the Recon hitch head is a little larger than normal 5th wheel hitches I doubt that the universal wedge that comes with the Turning Point will fit correctly. We have had customers say that the Reese wedges for the Reese Sidewinder works with the Turning Point but we haven't been able to test this out for ourselves so I can't 100% sure say it will work. If you want to go that route though you will need the Wedge # SWW-05.

This will give you 22" of extra clearance so you should be able to make 90 degree turns without hitting the cab of your F-150.

If you don't already have a 7-Way in the bed of your F-150 then I recommend installing the Bargman # 50-97-410-010 to make connecting/disconnecting your Grand Design 295RL much easier.
