Will 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 with 5,200 lb Travel Trailer Be Okay in Mountains
Question:
Question on towing a 259 inch travel trailer, 5200 lbs. with a 2014 GMC 1500 V8 5.3 6 speed 4x4 3.42 rear end? I believe the truck is rated at around 9000 lbs. tow capacity, but would I have problems in the mountains?

Your 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 will be able to handle your trailer in the mountains. I simply recommend making sure you have a good trailer brake controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 to make sure your travel trailer has the proper braking for the down hill travel. You can connect this with wiring harness # 3016. Most people like a little more trailer braking for this travel so the trailer doesn't push them.
You may also want to consider using a transmission cooler like the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets # D13503 along with adapter # D13035.
