Replacement Mounting Hardware Kit for Sears Karrite Rooftop Cargo Box
Question:
Will the Karrite roofbox fit on Toyota rails?

Rooftop cargo boxes from companies like Thule and Yakima, and also those like the Karrite boxes once made for Sears by Thule/SportRack, require that the vehicle have a roof rack with side-to-side crossbars. Most cargo boxes have hardware that will fit on multiple bar shapes, which can include round, square or elliptical types. These different bar shapes can have widely varying dimensions so it is important to note their width and height and compare this to the hardware that mounts the box to those crossbars to ensure the bars and hardware are compatible with each other.
The replacement hardware kits that we offer, part # SR05587 that you referenced and the similar but smaller kit # TH05603, include u-bolts that have an inside width of 3-3/4-inches so this is the widest roof rack cross bar on which they will fit. The u-bolts have a usable height of about 1-1/2-inches so this is the thickest bar they will fit properly.
Rooftop cargo boxes often stay in use for a long time and can have multiple owners. By the time the new owner gets the box it may be missing some or all of its mounting hardware. It is safe to use replacement hardware, even from a different brand, so long as it fits properly on the roof rack bars. When this is the case it can sometimes be necessary to drill new holes in the bottom of the box to allow fitting the new hardware. Any extra holes should be closed up and a silicone sealer like # LT37467 is perfect for the job.
If you care to tell me the year, model and version of your Toyota vehicle and perhaps include a photo of its roof, I will be glad to find you a suitable mounting kit. Some details on your cargo box will be helpful (a second photo works too) in confirming the best hardware option.
If your Toyota does not yet have a complete roof rack with crossbars I can help you select one to allow installation of the cargo box.
