Wiring Harness and Parts to Install Brake Controller in 2006 Dodge Durango Without Tow Package

Question:

I have a 2006 Dodge Durango SXT. Because it has a trans cooler and a tow button I assumed it had the tow package. I want to tow a small RV with a 7 way plug-in. Because I thought I had a tow-ready vehicle, I purchased the Draw Tite 75292 hitch and a vehicle specific for with tow package Multi-Plug Wiring Harness 20135 for the hitch. I also bought a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller 90195-3020-P which came with a tow ready vehicle specific wiring harness. However, when I went to install the wiring harnesses no plug-ins could be found for both the hitch or brake controller wiring harnesses. What do I need to return and/or purchase to fix this situation considering what I have already purchased? Much appreciate the help.

To install your Prodigy P3 # 90195 brake controller on your 2006 Dodge Durango without a tow package you will need to first add a 4-way, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118390. I have added a link to an installation video of this harness on an '06 Durango for you to check out which should be helpful.

The other thing you will need is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7, which will give you a 7- and 4-way adapter, circuit breakers and the rest of the hardware needed to install the Prodigy P3 in your 2006 Durango.

This will be a hardwire installation so you will not be able to use the plug-in adapter as that would only be if you had the factory 7-way (tow package) on your Durango. I have added a link to a video showing an install of a brake controller on a Durango using the # ETBC7 so you can see exactly what the process will be.
