The Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect # RM-766 referenced in your question can absolutely be installed on your 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited but it does need to be installed on the positive battery terminal.

As you mentioned, the manual for your Jeep recommends disconnecting the negative terminal when flat towing, which provides a bit of a contradiction with the instructions for the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect. This recommendation is present in a lot of vehicle owner's manuals and it simply has to do with safety when it comes to disconnecting the terminals on the battery. This may have been an issue on older batteries but it is not a problem at all on modern batteries used in vehicles including your Jeep Wrangler. Disconnecting the negative or positive battery cable will have the same result.

We have talked with Roadmaster regarding this in the past and you can be confident in knowing that there is not a safety or operational concern with using the kit on the positive terminal of your Jeep's battery.
