Recommended 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for a 2018 Ford F-150 with 6-1/2 Bed
Question:
What fifth wheel hitch do you recommend for a 2018 F-150 with the 6-1/2 foot bed? I've heard I need a sliding hitch but I'm not sure what is a good choice.

I recommend using the B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W since you have a 6-1/2' bed on your 2018 Ford F-150. A sliding hitch will allow you to gain enough clearance so that you don't hit your cab with your trailer on tight turns so what you have heard is correct.
The reason that I like the Companion is because it installs in the Underbed Installation Kit # BW77FR which doubles as a gooseneck hitch if you ever need one. When you are not towing your trailer you can remove the Companion and you have full access to your bed.
The Companion has a fully articulating head to ease hookup and it features dual 1" thick jaws for a solid 360 degree connection for your king pin. Another great feature of this hitch is the cam-action latching handle that allows you to easily uncouple your trailer when you are on unlevel terrain.
I also recommend installing the Bargman # 50-97-410-010 wiring harness which gives you a 7-Way connection point in the bed of your F-150. This makes connecting and disconnecting your trailer wiring much easier.
Attached are installation instructions and review videos for all of the products that you can reference.
