Recommended 4-Way Trailer Wiring for 2015 Nissan Rogue
Question:
I have a 2015 Nissan Rogue. The owners manual states I need to use a 7 pin wiring kit. Will it harm my vehicle if I use a 4 pin kit? These are more readily available and I plan to rent trailers which I dont yet know how they will be wired. Thanks in advance for your assistance!

For your 2015 Nissan Rogue I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118480 with is a custom fit. The harness will attach to the factory wiring connectors located behind the trim panels in the cargo area on the driver and passenger side. The power wire will be run directly to your vehicle battery to protect your electronics from overdraw.
Your 2015 Nissan Rogue is not rated for a towing capacity large enough to require a brake controller, so you do not need to use a 7-way trailer connector. The 4-way connector will work fine for your vehicle and will allow you to rent small trailers as needed.
I recommend also getting the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 7,500 lbs # 989900 which will give you different options to help you tow your rental trailers level. It also has a nice storage bag for when the ball mount is not being used. I've attached a couple videos to assist.
