Is the Curt Converter Box for a 2002 Toyota Tundra Replaceable

Question:

Can I purchase just the converter without the harness that goes to the battery? My converter failed

The converter box for the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C55378 is not available as a separate replacement part unfortunately. However, I actually recommend you take a look at the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118378 instead which we have found to be much more reliable. The issue that causes the converter boxes to fail is excessive movement. The above Curt converter box attaches using adhesive which is not always the best method. The Tekonsha converter box attaches via a self tapping screw which is going to reduce movement and overall increase its longevity. It is also more cost effective.

The install process is virtually identical which you can see from the attached video.

I recently installed the Curt T-connector, part #C55378 on my 2002 Toyota Tundra. I am not able to get the brake lights to work on the trailer. Left and right directionals and running (tail) lights are working. Just no brake or directionals. Am I using the correct part? Any advice?

The Curt # C55378 is the correct harness for your 2002 Tundra, so you're at least good there. Make sure the included fuses were connected and hooked up to the battery correctly. Also, can you tell me how you're testing the trailer light functions - are you actually testing the 4-Way on the Tundra or do you just have the trailer hooked up and are seeing which lights work and which don't?

@ChrisR I believe there is one fuse at the battery which is working. I could.check the fuse panel on the truck too. I am testing the leads of the 4 way connector on the truck coming from converter with a multimeter. The only function I do not get is the brake light.

@ChrisR Fuses are all good. Battery Connection is good Im using a multimeter set to read DC volts 0-20 v. I am testing the 4 way pins on the Tundra. I read something about the truck having separate brake (red) and directional (amber) lights may be why. Suggested it may not be the right harness?
